Enforcing media validity period in SMIL

A-SMIL.org publishes specs on using SMIL to dynamically decide whether a media item within a playlist should or should not play. This functionality enables SMIL devices in

• Limiting the "validity period" within which a media file is licensed to play
• Defining items that only play on certain days of the week
