You may have set the brightness in the menus to suit your location, but notice it being brighter or dimmer at boot up. Rest assured that content will always play at the brightness level you set. It's only in the boot up screen and menus do you temporarily see the screen at its default medium brightness, which is better suited for reading of the menu text up close.
