IAdea Launches AnyTiles Video Wall Solution Microsite

IAdea, leader in digital signage media appliance and video walls, releases its new website section dedicated to its AnyTiles video wall solution. The new technology promises pixel-perfect, infinitely-scalable video walls constructed using IAdea’s standard digital signage media players.

Video walls assemble multiple LCD displays to form larger-than-life images and deliver impactful video content. The challenge is in enabling every pixel of the video wall to remain sharp no matter how many screens are put into the video wall. There are a number of large installations around the globe, some of the most notable include the 664-screen Guinness World Record holder at the Suntec Convention Center in Singapore, and the 432-screen lobby at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas. None of these installations are able to achieve pixel-perfection due to the lack of technology.

“AnyTiles brings to video wall what the Retina displays did for mobile devices,” says John C. Wang, CEO of IAdea, as an analogy. “Consumers are spoiled by super-fine pixel resolution on their mobile devices. AnyTiles will upgrade video walls to provide that level of visual experience.” AnyTiles will be able to drastically increase display resolution on most existing video walls simply by replacing their video wall controllers.

Behind each AnyTiles installation is a novel display architecture innovation called DGA (for Distributed Graphics Architecture). Similar to the Hadoop distributed computing architecture employed by many mainstream cloud computing clusters, DGA uses a large number of inexpensive system-on-chip GPUs to form a large surface of extremely high resolution. For every screen added to the video wall, a DGA module is added too. This way graphics capacity always catches up to the added pixels.

The first commercial deployment of AnyTiles took place in China’s Shanghai Hongqiao Commercial Business District in February. The video wall can be seen in the lobby of a corporate building, measures 10 meters (33 feet) wide and 3.5 meters (12 feet) tall. It features a display resolution of nearly 18K-by-4K, and provides augmented reality interactive gaming. See youtu.be/1jgJwI2jRUE
